The People’s Movement for Change (PMC), under the leadership of President Marius Fransman, welcomes the productive engagement with the Honourable Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu, held on 7 March 2025. This meeting marked a significant step in strengthening collaboration between government, law enforcement, and community-driven initiatives to address crime, particularly in vulnerable areas such as Elsies River and Delft
The Minister commended the PMC and community stakeholders for their commitment to combatting crime and highlighted key takeaways from the discussion, including:

1. A Well-Prepared Crime Reduction Strategy 

The Minister acknowledged the thoroughness and depth of the presentation by the PMC and its partners, demonstrating a strong understanding of crime-related challenges and solutions. 

2. Community Engagement & Partnership 

He expressed appreciation for the willingness of local communities to actively contribute to crime prevention efforts, reinforcing the importance of grassroots driven solutions. 

3. Innovative Crime-Fighting Measures 

The Minister specifically highlighted Coded Ammunition as a crucial recommendation and commended its potential impact in tracing and curbing illegal firearm activities. 

4. Diverse Representation in Crime Committees 

Recognising the broad and inclusive representation within the PMC-led crime committees, the Minister encouraged further collaboration across all levels of society. 5. Engagement Across Government Spheres 

The Minister advised PMC and its partners to extend their engagement to both provincial and local government structures to ensure an integrated approach to crime prevention. 

6. Strengthening Public Awareness and Branding 

He emphasised the importance of strategic branding and awareness campaigns to rally more community members around crime-fighting initiatives. 

7. Immediate Action for High-Crime Areas 

Acknowledging the severe plight of communities in Elsies River and similar areas, the Minister reaffirmed that these regions require urgent intervention. 8. Official Government Response Within Two Weeks 

The Minister assured that both his office and the National Commissioner’s office (NasCom) will provide structured feedback on the meeting’s recommendations within two weeks.
